Wendy Emali

Wendy Emali is a Kenyan banker who has built her career on Wall Street, and who brings its rigor in wealth building back to Africa. She is a Senior Vice President in Treasury at BNY, where she supports balance sheet management for a $30 billion entity and owns the firm's Contingency Funding Plan, the enterprise-wide playbook of funding tools and options that keeps a bank steady in any market. Her career spans more than a decade across Goldman Sachs and BNY, in liquidity risk, enterprise risk and treasury.

She was recognized as one of Treasury's inaugural "AI pioneers," a small cohort given early access to emerging AI tools to reimagine how the function operates. She has since turned that instinct toward a personal mission: exploring how AI can turn fragmented data into intelligence people can actually act on. Her focus is the African diaspora, and how remittances and scattered savings can become real, trackable wealth, alongside a stronger savings and investing culture back home.

A self-described "Dual Patriot," she builds her life across Kenya and the United States, and speaks from lived experience about what it takes to move capital, knowledge and ambition between the two.
