Thierno-Habib Hann has spent the past three years reshaping Shelter Afrique into a development bank, and Africa’s only development finance institution focused entirely on affordable housing and sustainable urban infrastructure. Its shareholding comprises 44 member states, the African Development Bank and Africa-Re.
His 25-year international finance career has taken him from the trading floors at Goldman Sachs and JPMorganChase to impact investing at the International Finance Corporation and the World Bank Group. He has structured and managed housing finance portfolios on Wall Street, across Africa and the Middle East, and in Asia Pacific.
He was named one of New African magazine’s 100 Most Influential Africans in 2024, won the 2025 BEA Awards Grand Prix for Real Estate Finance, and was named one of the 100 Most Reputable Africans in 2026.
