Raphael Dana

Raphael Dana co-leads Gozem with Gregory Costamagna. Founded in 2018, the company launched in Lomé, Togo as a motorcycle-taxi hailing service and has grown into a multi-service platform built on four pillars: ride-hailing; an e-commerce and delivery marketplace; vehicle financing, through which drivers lease-to-own their vehicles with support from the IFC and local banks; and Gozem Money, a digital banking platform built on its 2023 acquisition of Beninese fintech Moneex.

Gozem operates across Togo, Benin, Gabon, Cameroon and the Republic of Congo, serving more than one million users who have completed over 30 million trips and orders. It has generated more than $90 million in earnings for 40,000 driver-partners and financed over 7,000 vehicles. In early 2025 it closed a $30 million Series B, led by SAS Shipping Agencies Services, a subsidiary of MSC Group, and Al Mada Ventures.

As the company's principal fundraising and go-to-market strategist, he holds that Southeast Asia's Grab and Gojek offer the best playbook for Africa, and that Francophone markets, long overlooked by investors, are uniquely fertile ground for a super app. He has been quoted by CNN, TechCrunch and Semafor, and speaks regularly at AFSIC, Africa Tech Festival and GITEX Africa.

A serial entrepreneur with some twenty-five years of experience across Europe, Asia and Africa, he has been Managing Partner of the Africa-focused Reengine Ventures since 2016 and founded the Singapore strategy consultancy Galixo in 2013. He began his career co-founding NetArchitects, a Geneva web agency later acquired by Altran, and was the founding president of the Entrepreneurs' Organization's Geneva chapter.
