Bullish Africa welcomes Oliver Alawuba, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of UBA Group, to the stage.
Oliver Alawuba has spent twenty-five years in banking, all but the first of them inside one institution. He joined the former Standard Trust Bank as a pioneer member of staff in 1997, and rose through it and its successor to lead the group.
His path there ran through the parts of the business that matter most to this summit: country Chief Executive and then Regional Chief Executive across UBA’s markets outside Nigeria, Executive Director for the East Bank in Nigeria, and Group Deputy Managing Director, a role in which he covered Nigeria alongside nineteen subsidiaries in the rest of Africa. His experience spans corporate and institutional banking, consumer, retail and commercial banking, the public sector, and corporate governance.
He holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Food Science and Technology and an MBA in Banking and Finance, and is an alumnus of the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD and the Senior Executive Programme at London Business School. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management and an Honorary Senior Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
