Bullish Africa welcomes Chris Maurice, Co-Founder and CEO of Yellow Card, to the stage.
Chris is Co-Founder and CEO of Yellow Card, one of the largest licensed stablecoin infrastructure providers, with a network spanning 35 countries across Africa, the United States, the European Union, Southeast Asia, South America, and the Middle East. The company serves global leaders including Visa, Western Union, WorldRemit, and Airtel.
He co-founded Yellow Card in 2016 from his dorm room at Auburn University, before moving the company to Lagos and launching in 2019. In 2022 it became the first licensed virtual asset service provider on the African continent, and it has since expanded to power institutional payment rails and treasury operations for banks, telcos, and financial institutions globally.
Chris has led the company through four successful equity funding rounds, securing $85 million in equity financing from investors including Blockchain Capital, Polychain Capital, Valar Ventures, and Cash App. Yellow Card has also developed partnerships with leading global financial companies, among them Coinbase, Block, and PayPal.
He has delivered keynote addresses at conferences attended by heads of state, and has made the case for digital asset adoption to ministers and financial regulators across Africa. His work has been featured by CNBC, the BBC, Bloomberg, Forbes, and Business Insider. He holds a degree in Finance from Auburn University and was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2023, in the Finance and Big Money Startups categories.
